Fwd: Lean Stack tool for SUP course participants

Dear Participant,

We have registered an academic account for Lean Stack service for building Business models. Under the academic program, all participants will get 6 months free membership of the service. You can create the free account at this COEP page https://leanstack.com/academic/college-of-engineering-pune. For registration of the free account please use Access Code: AR-LEAN-PUNE.

Leanstack will enable you to create your business model, set up experiments and create reports in collaboration with your team members.

As an example, I have created business model of my start up - "Lean Startup Movement" (LSM). I am trying to bring the Lean Start Up practices to Indian entrepreneurs and organizing the SUP course at COEP-BIEL is the first experiment. Using the leanstack.com tool, I have created the business model and experiments, which are presented in the attached documents.

Please note that the business model canvas format is slightly different than the format that you have studied from the book by Alexander Oscarwalder.

We will discuss the details today at the end of class.

Reminder for today (13th Feb) class

Hello Teams (If someone is missing from this list, please forward to them),

Hope you are having fun working with your team members in bringing your dreams to reality.

Talking about reality, just sending a quick reality check. Please ensure you do the following before you come to class today:

  1. Please upload your team presentation on google drive under "0 Project Team Folder/ BM Canvas Version 2" folder. So far, I see only 3 presentations uploaded. Let's make the most use of our time and not waste it in resolving specific upload issues of each team during the class
  2. Please bring a copy of your presentation in a pen drive (just in case internet doesn't work)
  3. You WILL be presenting in front of the class so please do not bring any excuse on how you were not aware or did not get a chance to prepare
  4. If you have not read the first two chapters of the Business Model Generation book, you should think long and hard about why you are doing this course and whether you have it in you do go through much longer hours and way tougher times that you have ahead of you as you build your business.

See you all at 5:55pm today. We will have a surprise guest visitor today. I will share more directly in class at the time of arrival.

Cheers
Mitesh

Hello Teams,

In addition to this, please do the following:

a) Have a name for your business/team for easy reference (you can always change it later)
b) Upload your 1 slide business model canvas on the google drive with date_yourprojectname as the filename. I am assuming everyone has access to google drive. If not, please contact Prof. Ranade. Getting all the slides uploaded will help us put them on the projector quickly without wasting time
c) Choose one member from your team who will spend 3 minutes explaining your canvas to the class along with key skills in your team and what's missing

a) You have (or are a part of) a team of at least 3 people
b) You have read first two chapters of Business Model Generation (white book)

See you tomorrow and hope to have an engaging and fun conversations with all of your tomorrow.

Best
Mitesh

Who likes my idea?

The first thing you want  to know is whether people like your business idea. You had a chance to tell others what business you want to do in less than 60 seconds. The time was too short but still participants got a high level concept. They have given their opinion of which ideas they think are good. I have summarized what participants have selected as good ideas.

Now start preparing to recruit team members for your project. To execute the project in this course, you must have minimum 3 team members. Some of you have already joined the course as a team of 2 persons. Such teams will need to recruit minimum 1 more team member. Ideally, you should try to recruit 2 more to make the team size of 4. Now please find out from the attached spreadsheet, who liked your idea. These participants, who already like your idea, are very likely to join your team. Call them, email them, try to meet them, take them out for a dinner or a coffee. You have to do every thing to sell them your idea. In real life, if you can not find people to join your team then your business will never be able to take off.

If you need any help, then call me.

Good luck for your new venture,
